Polish Makes Perfect...
I just painted my nails lilac, and I feel like I have commited some terrible fashion sin. This terrible fear of nail polishes that clash with everyday outfits occured because of one of my style icons, Nina Garcia. In her style book, The One Hundred, she states: "Nail polish should go to extremes. Always. Go for either the vamp red or the light, light pink. Maybe black satin if you feel like being goth or punk rock. But do not dip into the middle-ground palette. Corals and fuschias are just asking for trouble." So technically I'm breaking the fashion rule of always opting for a red, black pink or clear nail. So, I'm deciding to write my own set of rules. How about... If one is caught in a sticky situation and falls in love with a colorful nail varnish, always make sure your outfit is either, white, black, or gray (anything else might clash.) I think that sounds better. So now you are free to paint your nails any color you like- except yellow.. That's just bad. No matter how good you may think it looks with your skin tone. So have fun, and paint away!*
